Dr Victor Kattan

Victor Kattan is Assistant Professor of Public International Law at the University of Nottingham and Deputy Director of the Nottingham International Law and Security Centre. He holds degrees from Brunel University London, Leiden University, and SOAS, University of London.

An internationally recognised scholar, Victor specialises in public international law, territorial disputes, the history of international law, international humanitarian law, and the law of the United Nations. He is the author and editor of several influential books and has published extensively in leading academic journals.

Before joining Nottingham in 2020, Victor taught and conducted research at the National University of Singapore and previously worked as a legal adviser to the Palestinian Negotiations Affairs Department on secondment from the United Nations Development Programme. His expertise has been cited by international courts, governments, and organisations, and he has provided evidence to the UK Parliament and the UN Human Rights Council.

Victor is a frequent commentator in international media and has appeared on outlets including the BBC, CNN, Bloomberg, and Al Jazeera.
