
“Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary 🇬🇹 and Permanent Representative to the OPCW, and representative to other International Organizations accredited to the Kingdom of the Netherlands; Agent of Guatemala before the ICJ and Member of the Court.
Previously she served as Chef de Cabinet and Principal Legal Advisor at the United Nations International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals (2019-2024) and the United Nations International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (2015-2017). She also represented her country at the Permanent Mission of Guatemala to the United Nations in New York (2004-2015) where she served as Deputy Permanent Representative, as well as Legal Adviser counselling on a wide array of political and legal issues. During this time she held several positions including Vice-Chair of the Sixth Committee of the General Assembly, Vice-Chair of the Ad Hoc Committee on International Terrorism, Vice-Chair of the Meeting of States Parties of UNCLOS. She was a member of the first Guatemalan Security Council team (2012-2013) where she continued to advise in her capacity as Legal Adviser while acting as Deputy Political Coordinator, Chair of the Security Council’s Informal Working Group on International Tribunals, and expert on matters relating to the rule of law, the ICC, the protection of civilians, terrorism and sanctions committees.
Ana Cristina is qualified to practice law before the Guatemalan Bar and the New York Bar.”
