Christophe Bondy

Christophe Bondy is a partner in Steptoe LLP’s London office.  He has practiced international arbitration for over 25 years, with a particular focus on investor-State arbitration.  After private practice in Toronto and Paris, Christophe spent nearly a decade as senior counsel in Canada’s Trade Law Bureau, where he led Canada’s response to multiple NAFTA Chapter Eleven arbitrations and took part in the negotiation of international investment agreements around the world, including negotiation of the services and investment provisions of CETA.  In private practice in London since 2015, he has regularly acted for sovereigns and private claimants in investment treaty cases and related advisory work. His cases have made a substantial contribution to the development of international law in this field. In addition to his busy counsel practice, Christophe sits as an arbitrator in investment treaty cases.   He is a member of the Advisory Board of the Investment Treaty Forum of the British Institute of International and Comparative Law, and an adjunct professor of international investment law at the Centre for Transnational Legal Studies in London.  He has frequently been called to testify to select committees of the House of Commons and House of Lords on issues relating to international trade and investment.
