Eric White has spent most of his long career in the Legal Service of the European Commission. The major part of that time was in the area of external relations and in particular trade law including the development of the EU’s WTO dispute settlement practice. He has argued a large number of cases before WTO panels and its Appellate Body and also appeared for the European Union in a dispute at ICAO. Eric has also participated in numerous international negotiations including free trade agreements, WTO Ministerial Conferences and at UNFCCC Conferences of the Parties. He now works as a consultant for Herbert Smith Freehills on international trade and regulatory matters.
