Nicholas Waddell

Nicholas is Head of the FCDO’s Sanctions Regimes and Litigation Department. He led and drafted the UK’s Sanctions Strategy. His remit covers the full range of non-Russia UK and UN sanctions regimes. He previously led delivery of foreign policy objectives for the UK’s G7 presidency. He was head of strategy in the UK’s Department for International Development and has worked extensively in East Africa. Before joining the civil service, he worked for the BBC’s Hardtalk interview programme; at Parliament; and at the Overseas Development Institute.
