Rashmin Sagoo

Rashmin Sagoo is the Director of the International Law programme at Chatham House.
Rashmin developed her international law, policy and diplomatic experience in the government, humanitarian and international organisation sectors. Her work has been referenced in many outlets including the Financial Times, New York Times, Al Jazeera, Washington Post, Die Welt, Politico and Le Monde.
She joined Chatham House in 2022 from the British Red Cross where she advised it and the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement on a range of legal issues, including international humanitarian law, counterterrorism, international disaster laws, migration and refugee law, and international human rights law.
She was formerly an international lawyer and diplomat for the UK Foreign Office, advising on matters such as EU law and the Brexit negotiations, UN Security Council resolutions, counterterrorism and security law, international humanitarian law, international human rights law, international judicial architecture and nominations to international courts and tribunals. She also served as a European Commission expert on employment, non-discrimination and EU fundamental rights issues. Rashmin has led several high-profile cases before the UK and international courts, including the Court of Justice of the European Union, the US Supreme Court, and as UK Agent to the European Court of Human Rights.
